The film follows the story of a young woman named Violet, who returns to her hometown in the Midwest after dropping out of college and struggling with the recent death of her mother. Upon her return, she reconnects with her old friend and former bandmate, and together they decide to revive their old band and enter a music competition. As they start to rehearse and prepare for the competition, Violet begins to confront her past and come to terms with her loss. Along the way, she forms new friendships, finds romance, and rediscovers her passion for music.
